Brownfield Exploration within the Mining Lease Area held by GMDC in Fluorspar Project, Kadipani (FPK)

The Ambadunger fluorite mine has been reopened and requires life enhancement for sustainability in FPK. In view of this, an exercise has been taken to integrate the data available from the GSI, which explored 619.15 Ha during 1961-64. The recent preliminary assessment provides an opportunity to examine the fluorite mine and its surrounding area using various exploration techniques, including geophysical, geochemical, and drilling methods. After detailed studies, 12,000m of exploratory drilling has been planned as part of the investigations in FPK.

Project Details

PHASE-I : (Under progress)
    • Re-examination of cores of previously drilled nine bore holes (2833m) and their sampling, analysis, lithological correlation and preparation of sections and geological report.
    • Geological mapping on 1:2000 scale in the eastern sector of the mining lease area (within 63.2 Ha).
    • Exploratory drilling of 4500 m in a 100X100 m grid, Bang Tekri sub block, and in the mining lease area to meet the statutory requirement of mining plan approval.
    • Litho-logging, systematic sampling, chemical and mineralogical analysis and resource estimation of fluorspar and associated critical minerals.
    • Sampling and analysis of the waste dump from past fluorspar mining to assess the critical mineral potential.

PHASE-II
    • Exploratory drilling of 7500 m in a 100X100 m grid within the mining lease area to assess the critical mineral resources and to meet the statutory requirement of mining plan approval.
    • Litho-logging, systematic sampling, chemical and mineralogical analysis and resource estimation of fluorspar and associated critical minerals.
  • Outcome
    • Delineation of fluorite zones to support ongoing mining activity.
    • Identification of critical mineral-rich zones within the leasehold area, grade classification and reserve estimation.
    • Value addition by critical minerals.
    • Submission of Geological Report.
    • Proposal for the preparation of a mining plan, including critical minerals, if any, along with fluorspar.
