India's mineral and mining sector has undergone significant transformational reforms over the past decade, notably encouraging the auction mode of mine development. The government offers comprehensive support at every step, making it simpler to explore, exploit, and extract minerals either as a single entity or by engaging in selective stages and exiting profitably.

Gujarat, rich in Rare Earth Elements (REE) and other critical minerals, is poised to lead the development of these essential resources for the electronics, super magnet, and Electric Vehicle (EV) industries within the next five years, thanks to the favorable conditions mentioned. As a result, exploration and mining activities are expected to increase with active government sector involvement.

The roles of the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) and the Commissioner of Geology and Mining (CGM), as the primary state agencies for developing these minerals, are crucial. The diversification and expansion programs initiated by GMDC over the last three years are seen as significant steps toward achieving substantial goals.

GMDC's initiative in establishing societies like the Gujarat Mineral Research Industrial Consultancy Society (GMRICS) aims to enhance mineral and mining capabilities, thereby supporting the industry. The provision of efficient consultancy and end-to-end solutions for the mineral and mining industry has opened new opportunities within the state, available to both government and private sectors.

The scope of GMRICS is extensive, covering the entire country, enabling it to offer services in surrounding states and any state or country that requires support.
