GMRICS conducted 60 days certified Summer Internship programme for two M. Tech students from Mineral Engineering Department, IIT-ISM Dhanbad at Copper Project Ambaji. The training included characterization of Critical Metals and REEs through mineralogical studies, beneficiation processes and laboratory instrumentation.

10th May to 9th June 2026

GMRICS under the aegis of GMDC successfully conducted summer internship programme under the Training Institute for Mineral Exploration (TIME) initiative at CPA, Ambaji from 10th May to 9th June 2026, with participation of 11 students from India’s premier institutions like IIT-ISM Dhanbad, IIT-Roorkee and K. J. Somaiya College, Mumbai. The training programme included field geological mapping, drilling techniques, borehole planning, core logging, sampling, various laboratory analytical techniques, and software (AutoCAD) training.

 

The training also included lecture and hands on exposure on Drone Survey applications in exploration for internship trainees by Prof Pankaj Khanna of IIT, Gandhinagar.

6th April to 11th April 2026

GMRICS conducted an onsite training program on Drilling Engineering Techniques in partnership with ICEM (International Centre of Excellence in Mining, an initiative of GMDC Ltd.) for the drilling engineers from Department of Geology and Mines, Ministry of Energy & Natural Resources, Thimpu, Bhutan at Copper Project, Ambaji Project Site. The training program included practical hands on training on drill rig setup, using drilling accessories, operation of drilling machinery, fluid circulation, conducting drilling operation, deviation survey, core processing and RQD measurements.

2nd March to 16th March, 2026

As per the M.Sc. curriculum endorsed by NEP 2020 and considering the MoU, GMRICS has conducted a fifteen days certified training program at Copper Project Ambaji for five under graduate students of Applied Geology from M.S. University of Baroda. This internship program included the training about exploration, mining processes, mineral processing, etc.

17th February to 26th February, 2026

A 10 days certified training program was conducted on DATAMINE software at ICEM- GMDC Campus, Dev Dholera to a team of GMRICS professionals comprising Geologists, Surveyor and Draftsman. The training program organised by GMDC and conducted by DATAMINE included the basic understanding of geological data management and modelling through drillhole data import, validation, geological model creation, block model building for resource estimation.

As per the M.Sc. curriculum endorsed by NEP 2020 and considering the MoU, GMRICS commenced four months internship program for a PG student from Geology Department, M.G. Science Institute at Copper Project Ambaji. This internship program included the training about exploration and mining processes, mineral processing, etc.

20th December, 2025

Twelve UG & PG students along with two faculty members from Department of Geology, K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, Mumbai were introduced to onsite Petrology Laboratory at Ambaji. They were trained in identification of sulphide minerals megascopically as well as microscopically.

A field visit is arranged for the undergraduate geology students of M.G. Science Institute, Ahmedabad, at the Ambaji deposit on 18.12.2024.

A field visit was arranged for M.Sc Tech students from MLS University, Udaipur, to the Ambaji deposit on December 10, 2024.

28th July to 29th July, 2025

Two days training program has been conducted from 28th July to 29th July, 2025 for ten post-graduate students of Geology Department, M.G. Science Institute at Copper Project Ambaji. The training was about various aspects of exploration geology, typical geological features of mines and surrounding area at Ambaji.

13th July to 16th July, 2025

GMRICS & GMDC jointly conducted a short-term certified training program at Ambaji for four students of M.Sc. Tech (Applied Geology) from IIT Bhubaneshwar considering the proposal endorsed by MCR 1960 and from 2016.

5th May to 4th June, 2025

Field training on “geological mapping and exploration techniques for critical minerals” has been conducted from 05th May 2025 to 04th June, 2025 for ten post-graduate students of IIT-ISM, Dhanbad and three post-graduate students of M S University, Baroda at Copper Project Ambaji. The training included lectures by experts from GMRICS followed by extensive field visits and practical training. Shri Roopwant Singh, IAS, MD, GMDC Ltd., graced the valedictory function on 04th June, 2025 and distributed training certificates to the participants.

28th February, 2025

As part of our ongoing research and exploration initiatives related to critical minerals, GMRICS conducted a petrological and geochemical study of the host rock to develop a petrogenetic model. In this context, a scientific training program aimed at building the capacity of our scientists, focusing on igneous and geochemical processes and relevant techniques, was organised in the Ambaji area (Gujarat) from February 28 to March 4, 2025. Professor Sen Sarma from Lucknow University visited Ambaji during this period, engaging in extensive discussions and interactions with GMRICS Geo Scientists and providing training to young geologists.
