Extensive phase wise evaluation drilling has been planned in CPA to enhance resources. In the initial phase, 24000m drilling has been planned which includes 9000m evaluation drilling in the area of main Ambaji block (184 Hector) and 15000m exploratory and stratigraphic drilling in green field area (1402 Hector) to extend the strike continuity of mineralization in the main block and to identify additional resources in the contiguous blocks.
The present exploration activities undertaken by GMRICS in various geological domains are of a multidisciplinary nature and involve a multitude of analytical studies and basic research on the mineralogical and mineral-chemical characteristics of the ore and associated minerals. In view of this, basic analytical facilities for sampling, mineral separation, and petrographic studies are being developed at the Onsite Laboratory in Ambaji.
GMRICS/GMDC has initiated a brownfield exploration program within its ten operational bauxite mines located around Gadhsisa, Kachchh, with the objective of assessing the mineral potential beneath the existing bauxite deposits. To explore deeper portions of these mines, preliminary investigations under the G4 exploration stage have been undertaken in Nana-Goniyasar, Wandh-1, and Wandh-2 mines. A test drilling of 580m has been completed in FY 25-26 and initial assessment has been made.
The brownfield exploration programme proposed by GMDC within the mining lease area of the Fluorspar Project, Kadipani (FPK) is aimed at enhancing the long-term sustainability and resource base of the reopened Ambadungar Fluorite Mine by systematically exploring untapped and deeper mineralized zones.
At Mewasa, Devbhumi Dwarka District, bauxite occurs in irregular pockets within lateritic zones derived from altered Deccan Traps, overlain by thin limestone layers.
