A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was entered on 10th June 2026 by and between the Managing Director GMDC, acting through the Chief Executive Officer of the Gujarat Mineral Research Industrial Consultancy Society (GMRICS) and Director of National Institute of Technology Raipur.
National Institute of Technology, Raipur (NITRR), a premier institute of national importance under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, originally established in 1956 (as Government Engineering College). NIT Raipur has a mandate to carry out research in multidisciplinary areas pertaining to Earth systems and their complex subsystems. The institute conducts research that supports public interest by enabling informed decision-making for sustainable geo-resource utilization and improved resilience to natural hazards. The available experts may collaborate for working on projects in Gujarat, through separate specific written agreement, especially within GMDC’s mines for exploration, mining, and beneficiation. The research activities can continue in a challenging environment where the possibilities of Critical Minerals are enormous.
Realising the mutual interests, the Parties have agreed to create a long-term partnership on the objective of creating an institutional framework for enriching scientific endeavours in mutually agreed fields of research and training in the areas of mutual interest supported by funding through the respective institutions according to the broad framework outlined in this Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate advancement of knowledge based on reciprocity-based efforts, mutual benefits and regular interactions.
This MoU shall remain in force initially for a period of five years, however, thereafter; may be extended for up to 5 years by mutual consent of both the parties.
